Any swift change in seasons seems to always mean one thing:
The common cold is ready to make its rounds again!
As I’m writing this article my nose is running and I have a very sexy sore throat that is making me sound like a 80 year old smoker.
Oh and of course, I look like this:
However to combat these painful symptoms and give my immune system a helpful boost I always go back to my favorite cold-fighting smoothie recipe.
I call it:
The Golden Elixer
(Also pictured is my matcha milk which I’ll also include as a bonus recipe below***)
The Golden Elixir Smoothie Recipe
- 1 cup of freshly squeezed orange juice
- 1 cup of green tea freshly brewed (using at least 2 tea bags for double the potency)
- 1 cup frozen peaches
- 1 tbs tumeric pwd
- 1 scoop plant protein powder
- 2 frozen bananas
Combine all ingredients into blend and blend, blend, blend away!
Please note that you do not need an expensive high speed blender to make this. Any affordable blender will do just fine! : )
Tumeric Tip: Did you know that tumeric has anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-microbial properties that help boost your immune system? Try adding a little tumeric in your usual recipes during flu season for an added boost.
Matcha Milk Bonus Recipe
Whenever I’m suffering from a cold, there is certainly no shortage of liquids getting pumped into my system. I like to double up in the mornings with a vitamin packed smoothie as well as my favorite matcha milk recipe. Don’t worry – it’s not made with moo moo milk haha.
Matcha Milk Recipe
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 1/2 cup oat milk
- 1 tbs spirulina
- 1 tbs matcha
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
I usually simply throw all ingredient into a mason jar and mix manually. You are more than welcome to pop them in a blender as well though for a quick mix.
Hoping these recipes help give you a boost if you are feeling under the weather!
